Feeding During Nectar Dearth

Feeding Essential Oils During a Dearth of Nectar May Incite Robbing!

Bees cluster at the entrance of the above hive to prevent robbing. This hive has the new wick system with the PVC Deal™ feeding essential oils. During late winter and dearths of nectar, the odor from the essential oils from the entrance provokes robbing by foragers from adjoining hives. An entrance reducer should be used to restrict the entrance so the bees have a smaller area to defend. Luckily this hive is strong enough to repel their robbing cousins.
